A Year's Supply of...

Hot Dogs!  Okay, most people would think we are crazy, but since we love hot dogs, I thought this perfect.  It's Labor Day weekend and of course, a lot of people barbecue so hot dogs are always on sale.  In fact, these are my favorite - Bar S Jumbo Franks - and they were only $0.57 a package!  Yay!!  They are usually about $1.25 or more so this was a steal!  We bought 20 packages to stick in the freezer.  I was figuring it out today...each package has 8 hot dogs in it.  That's 160 hot dogs.  At 2 a week for me and 3 for Melon Man, that's 5 a week and will last us 33 weeks.  Since we don't each hot dogs in real life once a week, this amount will definitely last us a year!

Oh goodness, my mouth is watering. I can't wait for a good "Glorified Hot Dog"!!!

GLORIFIED HOT DOGS

1 pkg jumbo hot dogs
A block of cheddar or colby jack cheese to cut long chunks off of
Prepared potato pearls

Its hard to describe the quantities of cheese and potatoes for these.  I just make some and if it's not enough, I make some more.  That's why I LOVE using instant potatoes for these.

Slice the hot dogs lengthwise, but don't slice all the way through.  You want the hot dogs to lay flat but still be connected.  Lay the hot dogs out in a 9x13 baking dish.

Cut some cheese to lay on the hot dogs.  I prefer to cut it about 1/8" thick and about 1 inch wide.  Lay the cheese on each of the open hot dogs.

Flop some of the potato pearls on each of open dogs.  Not too much and not too little.  Just enough.

Lay another slice of cheese on top of the potatoes.  Bake at 350* for about 10-15 minutes...until the cheese is melted and the potatoes are JUST starting to get little brown tips on the edges.

Serve with a salad and a green vegetable.  YUM-O-LA!
