Today I cut a bunch of vinyl for presents for my employees, some vinyl customers, and the lady in my old ward who cleans my house (as a Christmas gift). I also washed three loads of tablecloths from the ward party, searched for and found my Christmas Eve story (although Jen mailed me something to use but I'm not sure it will get here on time so I need a backup), made the "gift" portion of my Christmas Eve story, put away my pilgrims, and started decorating the tree. I cannot believe Christmas Eve is just a day away! Holly is coming to clean in the morning and after that I have tons of errands to run, things to deliver, and last minute food shopping to do. I totally forgot to light my menorrah tonight as well. Ordered Chen Wok for dinner - yum. Will just have to get up early tomorrow to get more done.
No little bag showed up on the doorstep tonight with another piece of the nativity. :(
Here's a little Christmas game for you...copy and paste into your own blog or email and send along with some Christmas cheer.
- Wrapping paper or gift bags? Both - depends on what's inside, where it's going
- Real tree or Artificial? Can't stand real trees - too much work, too much mess. LOVE my new 9 ft artificial one! So easy to put up. Don't have to put the lights on myself. Reminds me a lot of the trees from when I was a child.
- When do you put up the tree? Usually Thanksgiving weekend. However, here it is...December 23rd and I'm still not finished decorating it. Need a ladder brought in the house....uh, hon.....
- When do you take the tree down? Usually the first or second weekend in January...although I didn't get last year's down until July 19th. (Not a typo!)
- Do you like eggnog? Yes, but I have to thin it just a tiny bit with .... milk.
- Favorite gift received as a child? Probably my tape recorder.
- Hardest person to buy for? C. Seriously, he never WANTS anything.
- Easiest person to buy for? Myself. I know what I'd like. I even make him a list about 2 months ahead of time in case he needs ideas.
- Do you have a nativity scene? Yes, a couple.
- Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail, if I do them.
- Worst Christmas gift you ever received? An off-centered, screen-printed Winnie-the-Pooh t-shirt from the clearance rack at Wal-Mart for $4. No, it wasn't from C, I'm sure you know who I mean. I gave us each $100 to spend on the other person that year. That was all I got. He used the rest on himself.
- Favorite Christmas Movie? The Nativity Story, Christmas Vacation
- When do you start shopping for Christmas? As early as possible. Although, C has done most of it the last two years. He takes care of the kids (nieces and nephews) and I take care of the siblings.
- Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Yes
- Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Stuffed mushrooms, clam chowder & sandwiches, prime rib, Lisa's twice baked potatoes
- Lights on the tree? Yes, clear minis. However, C loves the colored lights. Next year, I'll have to wind a couple strands in with my clear on the new tree.
- Favorite Christmas song? Silent Night
- Travel at Christmas or stay home? Mostly always stay home due to work schedules. However, we flew up to Utah on Christmas Eve last year as a surprise to the family (and flew home on Christmas Night).
- Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's? Yes, do I have to though?
- Angel on the tree top or a star? Star
- Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? All on Christmas Eve. It's just the two of us so there's usually not a whole lot to worry about. Plus, we like doing that in the light of just the tree.
- Most annoying thing about this time of the year? Too much commercialism, not enough Christlike atmosphere, "Happy Holidays" instead of Merry Christmas.
- Favorite ornament theme or color? Too many have special memories to only have a favorite. This year I am loving red, gold, and white and I'm going to try adding that new lighter Christmas green. I'll probably hate it. But, give me glittery and I'll be in heaven!
- Favorite for Christmas dinner? Prime rib.
- What do you want for Christmas this year? For my family to reconcile and be together on Christmas Eve, even if I can't be there with them.
- Who is most likely to respond to this? Shelli
- Who is least likely to respond to this? Dad and C
- Favorite thing about Christmas? Remembering our Savior's birth and the impact He has had in my life.
