Talents

As I watched the sisters tonight (well, actually last night now that it's after midnight) putting together their Super Saturday projects (a few days ahead to make sure everything is a go for Saturday), I was thinking about how each of them has talents - some more than others, others different than those of the next person - but all important in the lives of those around us. I crave to have the talent of creativity. Sure, I can copy something that someone else has done but I severely lack the talent of coming up with something on my own. However, I was so happy tonight when two sisters from another ward came to play volleyball and they were looking at our projects and asked where we had gotten the idea for these cute light up ghosts. I said shyly that I came up with the idea after seeing something a little similar in a magazine. They were just so impressed with them. It made me happy.

I'm so grateful for the talents I have been given. I can play the piano, cook, speak different languages, etc. I'm sure there are more, but it's almost 1:00 a.m. and my eyes are starting to burn. However, I'm trying to finish a surprise scrapbook for an employee at work who is retiring today and I'm only about 1/2 way done since I'm having to totally redo it versus what was turned in from people who participated ( I didn't communicate very clearly my intentions or desires so it's my own fault).

What talents do you have? How have you used them to feel closer to God? Make a list of 5 of your talents and share them here in my blog comments!

I learned long ago that most of my talents are ones not 'visible'. Sometimes those are harder to recognize so I went for a long time thinking I didn't have any. But here is what I've learned about myself over the years:

-leader
-organization
-love easily/tender heart/compassionate
-cook
-good mother
