Scrapbook/Office Update - Literally!

I am so excited!  I have been wanting to 1) combine the office and scrapbook room into one room and 2) have a guest room again, for a long time!  Since I stopped selling cardstock, etc. about 4 years ago (wow, has it really been that long?  Where has the time gone?!?!), I've never gone back to having a guest room.  And...we really do need one...for those once a year visits from long lost family you know...

Any who....

So, I've been farting around on Pinterest lately and found this picture (as well as on my friend's blog)...

...along with visiting that same friend's house a while back who has an awesome scrapbook room...see....

...and I've come up with a layout that I hope will work for my scrapbook/office.  We'll move the "monster" with all of the cardstock on it to the left side of the room from the right side.  That will be fun...not.  Then, we'll install upper and lower Expedit and Alex brand cubbies and drawers like in the pictures above, along with the black countertops (black doesn't show stray marker lines, etc.!).  I'll move my tilt bins to the location as shown and will have a dedicated section for my sewing machine so I can leave it out all the time!  (The gray sections in this first picture are symbolizing the side view of the drawers and cubbies.

This next pic is the window wall view and you can see the cubbies and drawers straight on now.  I am very excited to be able to sit and work now right in front of the window and see life happening!

And then, moving around to the right side of the room, more drawers, cubbies, etc., along with the "office" part of the space.  In the upper cubbies, I've thought of displaying the old cameras that Melon Man has on shelves in the current office/future guest room, but now that I think about it, I think I'll actually display those on top of the 2x4 Expedit cubbies in the window picture.

I'm so excited to get started on this project!  I've decided that 2012 is the year of "Us" and "Me" and not work like it has been for the last 6.5 years.  Yes, I'll still be devoted to my company and my work, but not 10-16 hours a day anymore.  I need to "find" the happy "Fatty Girl" in me again.  She's in there...I can feel her trying to get out!  So, off to Ikea we will be going soon to get all this stuff.  I can't wait!  After this is all done, we'll work on the guest room.  Yay!
