Food Among Friends

Tonight was our Food Among Friends enrichment activity group. This month's focus was on breads. We had an array of items: buttermilk biscuits with freezer jam, cracked crunchy wheat bread with cinnamon sugar butter, sweet bread, lemon zucchini bread, and 45 minute rolls (which I made). Yummy stuff.

We had 7 sisters come, including me. Better than last month where we only had 4. But, these are the little groups and I have to remember that. I guess I'm just hoping for more. I'm so used to bigger groups like for regular enrichment nights that these smaller groups just seem so....well, small! I would love to have more people come. I don't know why they don't. Does the activity not interest them? Are they just too busy in their lives? Is it because school is about to or has just started? What makes only 6 (one was a friend of one of the sisters) out of 140 women come to an activity? This is a question I would love to know the answer to!

It was really nice that a new sister in the ward (the one who brought her friend) came. That's the way to jump right in and start making friends when you're new in a ward. She was so fun to get to know! Just a spunky gal!

The RSP stayed after and she and I discussed some changes to the plans for the remainder of the year. It was quite late when she left, but that was just fine with me because it was just the two of us trying to work out what is best for the sisters and sometimes you just need that one-on-one time. Good meeting. I have lots to work through and think about...and get my committee working on.

Melon Man got home not too long afterward (10:45) and we watched Hell's Kitchen which I'd DVRd for us. Love that show! But, I was just so tired that I was falling asleep throughout it. Bummer! But, I did get to see the end, which of course, is the most important part (and, you miss all the bleeping!). I fell asleep on the sofa and Melon Man continued to watch tv. Finally, he woke me up and sent me to bed. Nothing feels as good as your own bed....which mine was truly wonderful....

I don't know about that either. We only have a few show up at our midweek activities too. I love the Food Amoung Friends idea. I might bring that one up. How fun! And those rolls look so yummy!

I understood that the mid-week activities were supposed to be small, creating special interest groups?????

Sounds like one I would love to come to. Your blog looks great!

Sounds like all of you had a really nice time. They won't let us do mini classes in this ward anymore or at least that is what I was told. Can't wait to join yours in a few weeks! Next time your ward is doing enrichment let me know and I will come! I miss you and the fun with helping you out!
