My 10 Days of Christmas

I know that it's really the "12" Days of Christmas, but as of yesterday evening, it's MY TEN DAYS OF CHRISTMAS (VACATION!).  I've been really sick all week and have stuck it out at work but yesterday I told my boss that I was taking today off too.  So, now, instead of having 9 days off in a row, I will be off for 10!
As I climbed into the truck last night and began to drive away from work, I felt a whole lot of pressure just disappear.  It felt like Christmas again.  Up until our ward Christmas party, I'd been feeling Christmas-y like crazy, but once it was over, it was like the joy just disappeared.  Maybe I'd spent so much time focusing on trying to get ready for it, and feeling the spirit, that now that it was over, that focus and spirit was just gone.  It was really sad.  But as I drove out of the parking lot and onto the freeway to head for home, and as I felt like literal garbage, the Christmas carols on the radio reminded me of the joy that was still to continue and that now, I could finally focus on Christmas at our home.

I made a stop at Basha's on the way home to purchase a prime rib for the freezer since they had them on sale for $3.47 a pound.  I bought a few things I need for the baking I've decided to do so I grabbed those too.  I got home and walked in to all the garlands on and the tree lit and peace.  Yes, it was peaceful and quiet.  Melon Man was still sleeping and it was just perfect to come home to this.  I put our few groceries away and then worked on some Christmas things.  Melon Man finally got up and headed off to work.  I migrated to the sofa and continued to work.  But, it didn't last long.  I just wasn't feeling well and I crashed pretty quickly.  I woke up around 4 and Dog and I went to bed.  I had probably the best night of sleep that I'd had all week, but I was freezing throughout the night and Dog just wouldn't snuggle up to me to keep me warm and I was too cold to get out of bed and grab another blanket!

This morning, I slept as long as my body would allow and then have rested on the sofa all day.  I've had a fever all day and have been trying to nurse it away.  I HAVE to be better within the next 4 hours as this evening I am committed to doing my Christmas act of service tonight and don't want to have to cancel.

I'm really happy to be able to take this time off of work this year and be able to enjoy the next 10 days.  It's going to be lovely.  I have so many things to get done though!
